Oreck Quest Pro Canister Vacuum

FRIEZE CARPET CAN FINALLY BE VACUUMED! please see updates
My uprights simply would not work on frieze carpeting and I read about this Oreck Conquest Pro and how good it was supposed to be on frieze carpets and decided to give it a try. After one hours use this is my opinion.

It arrived well packaged with all pieces. The instructions on assemby and use were easy to understand. The floor brush worked great on my hardwoods and tile. The brush worked great on my upholstered furniture and my cat tree. The power head worked wonderful on my long shag rugs and on all my frieze carpeting. I like the lighted head which helps vacuuming in closets and under beds. It has a powerful suction and quickly sucked up the cat litter from my tile floors. I was pleased with the extension wand and found it easily adjusted to where I was vacuuming. Changing from one head to another was accomplished very easily. Not For Plush Carpet
We just received our Oreck Quest Pro Canister vacuum today and were so excited. It is easily assembled, although it is very heavy and requires good strength to carry it upstairs. The cord seems short and pulled out of the electrical socket twice during my initial use. The most disturbing aspect is that the vacuum won't budge without holding your breath, tightening your stomach (good old valsalva), and forcing the vacuum head through our new carpet. We have new, Mohawk frieze carpet which is like the old shag carpet but thinner threads. Anyway, we just gave up. I could barely push it through the carpet, and my wife tried for less than 30 seconds. I'm sure that this vacuum is great if you have a flat carpet or hardwood/tile flooring. But if you're looking for something to vacuum thick carpets, this is not the vacuum for you. We enjoyed our Oreck XL for years and thought this might work. But neither can handle the thicker piles in newer carpet. We're having to return this...

love this vacuum
i just received this vacuum, and i love it. the way people talked on here, i was expecting the vacuum to be extremely heavy, but it isn't as heavy as people have described on here, though it is not "light" i have been able to clean in places that i wasn't able to with an upright. i originally bought the smaller blue oreck quest, and really liked it, but my upright is 12 years old, and i thought for a little more i could have a whole new vacuum that could do everything that a canister and an upright could do all in one. i love the cord rewind, and it has lots of suction power. i have already cleaned the tops of my dusty ceiling fan blades, under the couches and beds, and lots of places an upright just won't get to. the only complaint that i can find with this is that the bags are a little on the small side, but i can put up with that in exchange for all the positives that come along with it. and not that it matters, but i think it is the prettiest vacuum i have ever had. i love the...
